Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of our most common questions. If your specific concern isn't addressed here, I'd love to chat — healing is a collaborative process, and it starts with a conversation.
Getting Started
Do I need a formal diagnosis to start working with you?
No. In fact, many of my clients come to me precisely because they don't have a diagnosis yet. If you are experiencing “mystery symptoms” like chronic fatigue, brain fog, or digestive distress, we can begin supporting your body's foundations immediately while you continue your medical journey.
I already have a primary doctor. Can I still work with you?
Absolutely. I view myself as a vital part of your “Health Team.” My 25+ years as a Physical Therapist have taught me the importance of clinical collaboration. I am happy to work alongside your MD, Specialist, or Osteopath to ensure our strategies complement your existing medical treatments.
Our Approach
How is Functional Nutrition different from seeing a Dietitian?
While traditional dietetics often focuses on caloric intake or general food groups for weight management, Functional Nutrition is investigative. We look at how food, environment, and lifestyle interact with your specific biology. We don't just give you a meal plan; we look at why your body isn't absorbing nutrients or why certain foods trigger inflammation.
What does a "personalized plan" actually look like?
No two bodies are the same, so no two plans are the same. Your plan may include:
- Targeted dietary adjustments to reduce systemic inflammation.
- Lifestyle “tweak” protocols for better sleep and stress resilience.
- Suggestions for functional testing (like gut microbiome or hormone panels).
- Strategic movement patterns based on my background in Physical Therapy.
Does Functional Nutrition replace my medications?
No. I am a Functional Nutrition Counselor and Physical Therapist, not a prescribing physician. I do not manage, alter, or prescribe medications. Our goal is to improve your systemic health so that, over time, you and your prescribing doctor can evaluate if your medication needs have changed.
Results
How long does it take to see results?
Because we are addressing the 3 Roots (Genetics, Digestion, and Inflammation) rather than just masking symptoms, this is not an “overnight fix.” Most clients begin to feel shifts in energy and digestion within the first 30 days, but true systemic healing typically takes 3 to 6 months of consistent partnership.
